Happy New Year from New Mexico

The daughters and I have taken off on an adventure.

We have traveled to see our family in New Mexico.

Since we've been here my mom has had a major operation to take care of the cancer invading her body...and on the same day we attended my niece's wedding, where the girls were invited to be flower-girls and I was invited to pray blessings over the ceremony.  I felt so honored to be asked as this side of my family is First Christian and not of Lutheran denomination.  I also got to spend a good bit of time with mom's brother, Uncle Rex--who has a wonderful mission of ministry all over the world and in prisons near Amarillo.

Just as the wedding was moving to the reception, we heard that mom had made it through the surgery very well.  Her pancreas is gone, and they weren't able to completely clear the portal vein, but 98% is gone and we all have hopes that this means mom has a fighting chance as a survivor of the cancer.
